Mister and Miss Juneteenth Pageant

About the Pageant:
Our 4th annual Mister and Miss Juneteenth Pageant is back with another celebration of Juneteenth and the youth in our city!
The Juneteenth Pageant is not just an event but a catalyst for positive change, education, and empowerment within the community. It celebrates the rich cultural heritage of African Americans while also promoting a future where understanding, equality, and unity prevail.

Areas of Competition:
- Cultural Attire: Contestants will showcase traditional attire associated with pride in African American heritage, such as dashikis, kente cloth, or other cultural garments during the opening number
- Formal Wear: Contestants will showcase their style and grace in formal attire, such as evening gowns or suits
- Talent: Contestants will have the opportunity to showcase their unique talents, whether it be singing, dancing, acting, playing a musical instrument, or other special skill
- Community involvement: Contestants are encouraged to participate in all rehearsals and activities leading up to the Juneteenth pageant. The pageant is an opportunity to showcase your talent, grace, and knowledge of African American history and culture
Judging Criteria:
Contestants will be evaluated on a scale of 1-10 for presentation, talent, knowledge of Juneteenth, poise, stage presence, and overall performance.
The winners will be asked to wear their cultural attire at Foot Soldiers Park’s 4th Annual “Still We Rise” Juneteenth Celebration on June 19th where they will be presented to the Selma community.
